SafePlace Shelter
Mitchell County SafePlace provides a shelter for the victims of domestic violence, sexual assault and elder abuse. The shelter provides a home like atmosphere where a family can conduct life in an ordinary fashion; in a safe, secure location thus lessening the trauma on family members. We know that escaping abuse is not easy and many people are forced to flee with only the clothing on their backs. Thanks to the generosity of the surrounding community we are able to assist in providing for immediate personal needs.
What should you expect when you enter shelter? Well, unfortunately, there are some forms that need to be filled out but we try to keep that to a minimum. After being shown to your room you will be given a tour of the facility and shown where to access the important things like food, laundry etc.. By the second day, you will be assigned a case manager. Your case manager will help you decide what your next step should be and will assist in accessing the resources you need to make it happen.
Far too many victims have had the hope of finding peace and safety physically or emotionally beaten out of them. SafePlace is here to provide the resources and time that is needed for restoration.
It is our hope that when you leave SafePlace you will be stronger and more confident than you were before; secure in the knowledge that your choice to move toward peace and hope is the right thing for you and your children.
