Getting Involved
The success of our work at SafePlace depends on you too! The following are some of the ways that you can help:
Volunteering with SafePlace
Volunteers are the life’s blood of any non-profit organization Mitchell County SafePlace is no exception. With the limited budget we operate under, there is no way that all the work that is required to meet the sometimes staggering needs of our clients could be done without our volunteers.
If you would like to get “hands-on” involved with SafePlace here are a few suggestions:
- Hotline-This service operates 4,380 hours per year by trained volunteers providing a lifeline to those who are in crisis.
- Thrift Store-Mitchell County residents are a generous lot and donations must be sorted and the stores must be stocked.
- Transportation-We average transporting clients 30 times each month for vital services
- Court Escorts-Our clients are often required to go to court to get protection from their abuser. As you can imagine it’s very frightening and they could use the moral support you can provide.
- Yard Work/Home Repairs-We are like any home, these things must get done
- Read Stories-Maybe you’d like to have a story time for our “little ones”
As you can see, there’s a lot to be done. If you want to volunteer call SafePlace @ 828-765-4015, we need you!
